Coarse grey marble upper moulding for attachment to a bomos, broken at right. Mouldings on front, left, and behind.

In this [tomb]... Messalin[us/a...].

This monument appears to be the upper moulding of a funerary bomos, here cut from a separate block of stone from the shaft; cf. e.g. MAMA XI 157 (1955/91: Diokleia); 127 (1955/100: Akmoneia). The inscription would have continued on the shaft.
