Memorial of Aetios and Eumathia, the newly-enlightened ones.

The term νεοφώτιστος, ‘newly-enlightened’, i.e. ‘newly-baptised’, is common in early Christian Greek funerary epigraphy, particularly for children; cf. e.g. Feissel 1983: 119-21, no. 123 (Thessalonike), with commentary; SEG 27, 875 (Ankara). For funerary inscriptions of this type (μνήμη + genitive), cf. MAMA XI 386 (1957/63: Kavuklar); MAMA XI 381 (1957/67: Anbar). For the form of the monument, cf. MAMA XI 381.
